The United Brotherhood of Carpenters (UBC) represents one trade with many crafts. Our members touch every aspect of a construction project; they’re frequently first on the job and the last to leave. Carpenters create commercial, residential, and institutional structures through the skill and experience that is established only by union training.

How to Become a Member of the Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council
Apprenticeship is the best way to start your career as a Carpenter. Whether you have experience on a job site or have never used tools before, apprenticeship programs are designed to give you the skills for success. Each program has classroom and shop projects that are designed to develop your skills so that you will be ready for the job site.
Each applicant must complete the online application, obtain a letter of intent from a signatory contractor, complete a drug screen and pay the required $50 permit fee.

Applicants who complete the online application must present photo identification with proof of age in person before the application can be finalized.

Applicants must complete the online application and obtain a letter of intent from a signatory contractor before completing the remaining entry requirements.
The apprenticeship includes eight terms over approximately four years, with 6,000 job-site hours and 18 units of training.
The program combines on-the-job and classroom learning so apprentices can develop practical skills while working toward journey-level status.
Apprentices earn while they learn and receive a raise each term, in addition to receiving medical coverage and pension benefits.
